This month’s interview is with Kerllen Rego who is a fitness blogger in the UK. Kerllen has over 300,000 instagram followers via the handle @healthy_fitmum and through her blog Healthy Fit Mum. Kerllen posts inspiring photos of her fitness experiences, eating adventures and life with her children daily. She is definitely one to watch!
Q: First off, tell us where you live and how you started blogging.
A: I live in Wales – UK .
Wales is a country in southwest Great Britain known for its rugged coastline, mountainous national parks. It’s a Celtic culture and the main language spoken in Wales is English but they also have their own distinctive Welsh language that is spoken for 19% of the population.
Q: How does, where you live attribute to your healthy lifestyle?
A: As I live in the countryside, it’s a place that I can enjoy the natural landscape, the fresh air, the birds’ songs. Further, I feel safe to go for a run or to cycling.
Q: You now have 310k followers and are up for 2017 UK blog awards. What do those numbers and honors mean to you?
A: It shows me that I am the right way to help others to follow the healthy lifestyle. It motivates me to keep going. Mainly because I have received messages from people who were depressed, addicted to medicine and today they are healed. I also receive messages from people who were sedentary, obese, and today they have chosen to live a happier, healthier lifestyle. Many already know that the healthy style doesn’t involve just our body, but it also involves our health and our self-esteem.
Q: What does your family think of your success?
A: They are proud with the achievement. They have seen all the effort that I have put over the years. Without their support I wouldn’t have been able to do half of what I have done.
Q: Who or what influenced you in becoming a health and fitness blogger?
A: I always intended to be healthy, I always liked to go to the gym, to eat healthy and my sister suggested for me to open an account on the instagram to share with others as simple as to live a healthy lifestyle.
Q: What is the best advice you could give to someone looking to turn their lives around and wish to become more healthy? What is the best parenting advice you could give or have ever gotten?
A: Firstly, you have to work out your mind, you have to want it, and you have to go for it. You can start by changing the unhealthy products for the healthy ones, creating tastier, healthier recipes and working out at least 3 times per week.
Q: Do you ever just sit around eating Pop Tarts and binge-watching Bravo TV?
A: To be honest I have never tried Pop Tarts, but my daughters love them. What I love are bananas and peanut butter. I have to hold myself to not eat more than I should. As I have a sweet tooth, I create nice and healthy recipes that I like to distract myself!
Q: Where do you see yourself as a writer in the next 5 years?
A: I wish to be a great healthy lifestyle influencer, helping the followers to live healthy and happy. Teaching them how to swap an unhealthy diet for the healthy one. Motivating them to exercise.
